Jamshid Damooei earned his Ph.D.
in Economics in 1981 from the University of Surrey
in the United Kingdom . Before joining the faculty
at CLU in 1987, he taught at California State University
, Northridge. Dr. Damooei was Director General of the
Bureau of Economic Studies and Policies of the Ministry
of Economic Affairs and Finance of Iran. He also served
as a Senior Economist for the United Nations Development
Program (UNDP). He is currently a consultant for the
United Nations and most recognized for his expertise
on economic and institutional capacity building in
East Africa and the Middle East .
Dr. Damooei's scholarly work
embraces a broad spectrum of current social and economic
issues. The areas of his studies include project design
and evaluation, methods of capacity building during
time of crisis, crisis prevention and recovery, causes
of macroeconomic imbalances, aid coordination, privatization
of industries, poverty alleviation, and design of corrective
policies with regard to monetary and financial problems.
During the last ten years he has become more focused
on the study of California 's economy and authored
a number of reports and studies on economic analyses
of social issues. Recently his research studies have
primarily been conducted within " The Center
for Leadership and Values of California Lutheran University ."
