"Graduating for Two"

Anonymous

In one of my ADEP classes students were talking about the upcoming graduation. One classmate mentioned that he was absolutely walking at the graduation because he was walking for 'two.' When I asked why, he explained that he was a heart transplant recipient of a 17 year old boy that was never able to go to college so his mission in life was to complete his degree and walk for both of them in the boy's memory.

At the undergraduate ceremony he spoke. This was the most inspiring story that I ever witnessed during a commencement ceremony. The ADEP program made it possible for an older man to return to college and complete his dream for two.
