"Helping students feel at home"
Six years ago I can remember my co-worker and I preparing for our first group of International Graduate students arriving on campus for the one year MBA program. There were, I believe, six students in total. We wanted to provide these students with a warm welcome. We went into their housing accommodations, made their beds, vacuumed the carpet, bought cookies and cereal and swept their patios so that when they arrived they felt at home. I will never forget meeting each one as they arrived, finally meeting them in person after communicating with them by email for months. After waiting several months to get them here, I almost felt as if they were my kids and I wanted to assist them in any way I could. The program has now grown to 80 strong and we can't provide cookies and cereal but still feel very close and connected with each and every one of them.
When I first started here at CLU I didn't know that I was going to get the opportunity to meet students from all over the world but I do and I'm grateful- I have had the opportunity to travel to Hong Kong, Taiwan, Beijing and Shanghai and I can't think of a better place to work and spend my life.
I think this is one of CLU’s strong points- there were always faculty members encouraging us to press on.
Now her letters are full of the joy of life and of hope for the future.
His mission in life was to complete his degree and walk for both of them in the boy's memory.
Arriving to CLU was full of emotion because I was the first in my family to attend a university.
