Environmentalist to discuss global warming
Cal Lutheran event ties into First-Year Experience program
(THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Sept. 14, 2016) An environmentalist will give a free public presentation at California Lutheran University as part of the First-Year Experience program.
Reese Halter will speak about global warming, nature, the planet, inspiration and innovation at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, in Samuelson Chapel on the Thousand Oaks campus.
This year, the university asked incoming freshmen to read one of two books about challenges facing youth today. Science and math majors read “Six Degrees: Our Future on a Hotter Planet” by English environmental activist Mark Lynas. The 2008 book examines the impact of global warming one degree at a time.
Halter is the author of the 2007 book “Wild Weather: The Truth Behind Global
Warming.” He also has written several other books for adults and children including “Shepherding the Seas: The Race to Save Our Oceans,” “The Incomparable Honeybee and the Economics of Pollination” and “Mysteries of the Redwood Forest with Bruni the Bear.” An engaging speaker, Halter makes complex environmental issues compelling for diverse audiences.
Samuelson Chapel is located at 165 Chapel Lane. For more information, contact Andrea Huvard at huvard@callutheran.edu.
