Dave Tofanelli, MBA, MSSM

Senior Adjunct Professor

Mr. Tofanelli is the Administrator, Carolina Cardiology, a member physician practice of Cornerstone Health Care.  In this role, Mr. Tofanelli maintains overall responsibility for managing the largest cardiology practice in North Carolina, headquarted in the Wintson-Salem area with practice locations throughout the state.  

Previous to this role, Mr. Tofanelli was the Managing Partner of Synergos Inc. Synergos is a multi-faceted consulting group with special expertise in health insurance plan contracting/relationships and strategic planning, as well as career management and executive coaching. 

Prior to Synergos, Mr. Tofanelli was employed by WellPoint, Inc., where he was responsible for national contracting. In addition to his tenure at WellPoint, Mr. Tofanelli was a vice president at MedMark Services, Inc., and was also the chief executive of Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic's largest medical center. He has held significant development and management positions with multispecialty group practices, large regional health care systems, and practice management organizations.

Mr. Tofanelli joined California Lutheran University as an adjunct professor of business in 2004. In addition to CLU, Mr. Tofanelli also holds active adjunct teaching positions in the MBA programs at Biola University and California State University Channel Islands. Prior to this, Mr. Tofanelli's teaching experience included positions that began in 1998 with Central Michigan University and George Mason University, and 1997 with the University of Maryland at College Park.

Mr. Tofanelli is the author of three books, Communication in Organizations, Communication in a Business Setting, and Cancer, A Marriage and A Miracle, as well as numerous articles on leadership, communications theory and health care policy. Mr. Tofanelli is also an invited guest speaker at numerous professional conferences.
