Debby Chang joined the Cal Lutheran family to develop and teach the Chinese language, culture and business culture program in 2006. Since then, she's introduced the Chinese traditions to the student body and the local community by organizing Chinese New Year celebrations, Moon Festival concerts and tea ceremonies at the university. Chang has taken the students to Chinese businesses to get a better understanding of the Chinese business culture. She has also connected CLU students to opportunities to study in China with Chinese government scholarships.
Chang was born in Taipei, Taiwan and is a native Mandarin speaker. She is also fluent in Cantonese. She has had a passion for sharing the Chinese language and culture with the community as a Chinese teacher for more than 20 years, part of which as the Thousand Oaks Chinese School principal. In 2007, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council awarded Chang with the Outstanding Chinese Language Teacher Award.
