Announcements for the week of December 10

  • Faculty Meeting, TODAY, Monday, Dec. 10, 4-6pm, in Swenson 101, with refreshments in the Pamela M. Jolicoeur Gallery beginning at 3:40pm.The Meeting Agenda and supporting materials can be found on the Faculty Governance Blackboard under Faculty Meetings/Academic Year 2012-2013/December.
  • "Release the Stress Before the Test" events for students, December 10-14, Pearson Library. The Library is offering many events for students this week to help them "de-stress" while studying for finals. Activities include Pet the Puppies, free massages, free yoga classes, and Therapy Dog sessions.  Please tell your students about these fun activities!  Click here for more information, or contact the Pearson Library at x3937.
  • Faculty Lunch, Wednesday, Dec. 12, 11:00am-1pm, Roth Nelson Room.
  • Faculty Forum - Online Education in TUG. There will be a faculty discussion about online courses in the Traditional Undergraduate Program on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 4pm in the Nelson Room. Topics will include: Fit within the ethos of CLU, intellectual ownership and course evaluation. Harry Starn from the School of Management will be there to answer questions. If you cannot attend and have any concerns, please contact Ken Gardner at kgardner@clunet.edu.
  • SoM Dean Search Update - From Paul Witman, Chair, School of Management Dean Search: The Dean Search Committee is pleased to report continued strong progress since our last report in October. In collaboration with our search consultant, Dr. Stan Hales, we have reviewed more than 50 candidates for the position. The application window closed in early November, and the Committee has reviewed the applications, made reference calls for 14 applicants, and selected 7 to come to a neutral site interview process in mid-December. Following that interview process, three finalists will be selected.  Finalist candidates will come to campus for interviews in late January and early February. At that time, there will be opportunities for everyone interested in the process and the selection to be engaged in the process, and we look forward to your participation.   • Nov. 26-Dec. 13 ADEP is sponsoring a toy collection benefiting KABC7 & the SoCal  Firefighter’s annual “Spark of Love Toy Drive.”  Unwrapped toys for infants, children, and teens can be dropped off to the ADEP office (SBET #114), the Oxnard campus, or the Woodland Hills campus.  Thank you for your support!
  • University Chapel, Thursday, Dec. 13, 11:25am, Samuelson Chapel.
  • The Center for Teaching and Learning’s lunch series this Thursday, Dec. 13, from 12:15 to 1pm, is in SBET 127. Bryan Rasmussen (English) will present "Experiential Learning from Classroom to City." Lunch will be served. If you would like to propose a topic or lead a Series session, please contact Joan Wines at x3277.
  • President's Christmas Camaraderie Holiday Party, Friday, Dec. 14, 3-6pm, President's Residence, 372 Camino de Celeste, Thousand Oaks.
  • The Community Leaders Association (CLA) is dedicated to enriching CLU and promoting its interaction with the community and local businesses. To this end, CLA has funds available to support faculty/departmental grants. Appropriate proposals include cultural events and seminars, scientific research equipment, and all requests in between. The application deadline is Dec. 14. The application form and rubric are on the Academic Affairs website under Financial Resources.   • The Earth Where You Stand, Photographs of India by Paul Hanson, exhibit in the Kwan Fong Gallery through Saturday, Jan. 26.For more information visit Kwan Fong Gallery.
  • The President’s Diversity Council is accepting applications for Faculty Development Mini-Grants of up to $1,500 and Guest Speaker Grants of up to $300.  The purpose of each grant is to enhance the understanding and appreciation of multiculturalism, diversity and/or global society at CLU.  The applications can be found on their website at http://www.callutheran.edu/multicultural/campus_diversity.php.  For more information, contact Juanita Hall at jahall@clunet.edu .
