The InCLUsive Overnight Program was established to increase knowledge and inclusivity
within the student body. We hope to foster a campus climate that encourages inclusive,
cross-cultural interaction, respect for and appreciation of diversity and global awareness.
The InCLUsive Overnight Program gives admitted high school students the opportunity
to visit Cal Lutheran's campus. Participants will learn what life is like as a Cal
Lutheran student by staying the overnight on-campus, making connections with members
of our faculty, staff, and student leaders, meeting other students considering Cal
Lutheran, and interacting with current students who make Cal Lutheran their home.
This is an invitation only program. If you would like to learn more about this program,

Scholarship Awards
The participants who come to campus will have the opportunity to compete for the InCLUsive
Scholarships, which range from $1,000 to $2,500 and are renewable for up to four years.
Students must attend the entire program in order to be eligible for the scholarships.
Additional scholarship instructions will be given during the InCLUsive program.
Participant Invitations
Participants for the InCLUsive Overnight Program and Scholarship are high school students
admitted to Cal Lutheran for the 2024-2025 academic year. Invitees generally demonstrate
commitment to inclusivity in their community and/or high school.

Students should plan to arrive on campus between 4:00 and 4:45 pm on Thursday to check

Participant Information
Before you accept your invitation to the InCLUsive Overnight Scholars Program, we
ask that you and your family read and understand the following:
You must attend the full event, from Thursday, March 21 - Saturday, March 23, in order
to be considered for the InCLUsive Scholarship. The program concludes on the morning
of Saturday, March 23, 2024. Cal Lutheran will provide a letter to your high school
explaining your absence on Thursday and Friday. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE TO THE
EVENT SCHEDULE.
Please limit your luggage to a reasonable size. Here is a list of recommended items
that you should pack:
Sleeping bag, blankets, pillow, towel, and other personal items
Casual attire for the program
Comfortable walking shoes
Attire for a hike
All meals will be provided for you. However, it is always a good idea to have a small
amount of spending money on hand.
The Cal Lutheran bookstore will be open should you wish to purchase snacks or any
Cal Lutheran apparel.
An umbrella may come in handy. March can be a rainy time of year.
*The sleeping arrangements will be lock-in style where we all stay in a multipurpose
room with adult supervision.
Transportation costs will be covered by California Lutheran University. In the case
of flights or trains, Cal Lutheran will purchase the most economical ticket that fits
within the time constraints of the program. For those who are driving, Cal Lutheran
will reimburse mileage from your home to the university, as long as mileage does not
exceed what a plane or train ticket would have cost (i.e. students driving from Arizona
or Nevada). In those cases, Cal Lutheran will reimburse you for what a ticket would
have cost.
Due to the magnitude of the program, Cal Lutheran has instituted a cancellation policy
that is necessary to make this event successful for all those involved. We encourage
you to ensure your availability prior to confirming your attendance at this event.
Once your RSVP has been confirmed, you will be contacted by Cal Lutheran for credit
card information. In the event of cancellation after your travel arrangements have
been made, you will be charged the full cost of your ticket, as your reservation is
not transferable or refundable.
The students and staff at Cal Lutheran welcomed all of us with open arms and treated
us as though we've known each other for more than just a few hours. InCLUsive not
only taught me that I'm ready to grow up and start my life, but it also showed me
what a true college community looked like.
