You can't say very often that you live next to all your closest friends, but I love that. It's that community feel that keeps me coming back for more.

Undergraduate Admission

Major in Computer Information Systems

Graduates are currently employed at many of the nation's top research organizations and corporations, including Rockwell International, Prudential Insurance, J.D. Power & Associates, IBM, HP, Hughes, Raytheon, and Litton Industries, and in industries from entertainment to banking to pharmaceuticals.

Computer information systems (CIS) is a fast-growing, high-demand profession and Cal Lutheran students complete their CIS program right in the heart of Southern California's high tech corridor - a guaranteed formula for success.

Combining studies in computer science and business management, the CIS major is one of two computer-oriented majors at CLU. It meets the needs of students targeting careers that meld the knowledge of information systems and the management of business organizations.

In addition to their major coursework, which emphasizes computer applications in software, hardware, and programming, CIS students receive a strong business education grounded in the liberal arts.

Students enjoy ready access to computer science facilities that include PC laboratories, a study area for majors only, electronic classrooms with large-screen projection systems, and an experimental networking lab, which runs various network operating systems. The department's small classes ensure individualized attention from faculty and a strong focus on student projects and research.

CIS majors are encouraged to participate in internships and major projects sponsored by the many research industries located near campus-a process that gives students real-world experience as undergraduates, and a leg up on the competition when the senior-year job search begins. In recent years, they've landed internships at such companies as Rockwell International, Prudential Insurance, J.D. Power & Associates, IBM, HP, Litton Industries, Disney, State Farm, Visual Trends, and a number of L.A.-area accounting firms.
