The thing I love about being in the residence halls is the community building that happens outside the classroom. You never forget your first year experience.

Undergraduate Admission

Major in Marketing Communication

CLU's versatile marketing communication graduates are currently working as marketing communication managers, marketing representatives, and advertsing executives for both private corporations and government agencies.

The business community today faces an unprecedented challenge in a highly competitive global economy. Effective communication-particularly marketing-focused communication-will be at the heart of every successful venture.

Cal Lutheran's marketing communication major helps students prepare for the marketplace by teaching them how to use the latest communication technology and how to craft the most effective messages on behalf of the companies whose products and services they represent. They gain the ability to research, plan, communicate, and manage globally focused marketing campaigns, as well as the skills needed to move into the management of marketing communication departments.

Building on the core coursework required of communication majors, marketing communication students augment their studies with courses in finance and accounting. Not only are marketing communication graduates proficient in oral and written communication and able to produce materials for a wide range of media but they're also competent business managers, ready to manage million-dollar budgets and to develop long-range financial plans.

Internships in the field are required, to give students relevant job experience to take into the marketplace upon graduation. In recent years, students have interned at HBO, TBWA/Chiat/Day, Frank I. Magid & Associates, Amgen, Caruso Affiliated Holdings, Willingham Group, Califa Entertainment, the United Way of Ventura, and KZLA-FM.
