Undergraduate Admission

Minor in English

Minoring in English at Cal Lutheran is an ideal way to prepare for today's job market. Not only does it sharpen critical reading and writing, but it also develops good communication skills. Then too, there is always the love of language and literature that inspires students to minor in English.

The English department at Cal Lutheran believes in maintaining a high level of instructional integrity for its students. From freshman level writing courses to upper division courses in selected authors and theory, the English faculty involve themselves with their students.

Students can hone their writing skills through work for the University's student-run newspaper, The Echo; the yearbook, Kairos; or the award-winning literary magazine, Morning Glory. Minors have the opportunity to join the CLU chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society.

The English program at CLU is about much more than reading and writing; it's a doorway into a realm of career opportunity and creative expression that lasts a lifetime.

Many English majors teach at the secondary or collegiate level. But many also begin careers in a wide variety of fields, including journalism, public relations, technical writing, creative writing, marketing, advertising, law, paralegal, sales, and communications.
