Many of my teachers are not only concerned with my academics but also ask me how softball is going. I feel like I have a ton of support on and off the field.

Undergraduate Admission

Minor in German

Cal Lutheran's German curriculum offers students a variety of opportunities through coursework, study abroad and extracurricular activities. In order to immerse the German major in the language, German is predominantly spoken in upper division classes. German courses include conversation and composition as well as studies in German grammar, literature and film.

CLU's extensive Study Abroad Program allows students to spend a semester or an academic year in Germany or Austria. Also, the German program sponsors various field trips to theaters, museums, libraries and restaurants to experience German culture.

Employment fields for German students include positions as translators, interpreters, travel agents and educators. When combined with business studies, a degree in German provides graduates with even broader career opportunities. Translators/ interpreters are employed in business, international trade, banking, church missions and international aid organizations.

Students interested in teaching German should refer to the chair of the German Department for information about the German subject matter program.
