Application Process

Deadlines

Fall Term: March 15. 2009
Spring Term: October 1, 2009

  1. Complete the Application for Admission (paper or electronic version) and the Certification of Finances - mail both documents to CLU with the $45 application fee in U.S. funds.
  2. Write a one-page essay in English describing your educational goals and your reasons for studying in the U.S. in general and at CLU in particular.
  3. Submit official TOEFL score report directly from ETS. CLU requires a minimum score of 550 (written test) or 213 (computer test). Students whose first language is English are exempt from the TOEFL requirement. Students who have completed 28 units (including English Composition) at a U.S. college or university are exempt from the TOEFL requirement.You may also submit results from the IELTS exam. CLU requires a score of 6.5 or higher on the IELTS exam. To contact IELTS, go to www.ielts.org
  4. Submit official transcripts and certificates from secondary school and any colleges or universities attended. If the documents are in a language other than English, please attach a certified English translation.
  5. Complete the Certification of Financial Support and attach a certified bank letter and/or a letter from your sponsor. CLU and the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service require that international students provide satisfactory evidence of adequate funds to meet their financial needs before an admission decision can be made. Only then can a Form I-20 be issued. Students must show sufficient funding for each year they expect to attend CLU. (Certificate of Financial Support .pdf )
  6. Submit a written recommendation from a teacher or a professor.

Once your application is complete, we will notify you of our admission decision within three weeks. A $300 tuition deposit is required within 30 days of the admission decision in order to confirm your attendance for the following semester and to receive the Form I-20.
