FAVORITE PLACES ON CAMPUS

A park-like campus that spans 225 acres provides a lot of area for each student to discover his or her own "favorite place." Some are drawn to communal spots where they can hang with friends and have some fun; others seek out spaces where they can focus on personal development, whether for academic or athletic improvement. Even with two parks, three cafés, a gallery, and numerous athletic facilities supplementing the many academic buildings and specialty facilities on campus, it doesn't take long for Cal Lutheran students to pick a favorite campus spot.

MADISON HARTSTEIN

HOMETOWN: Scottsdale, AZ

MAJOR: Business, with a minor in Spanish

FAVORITE PLACE ON CAMPUS:
The swings in Buth Park

"In the early days, since there were around 10 people in the unofficial swingers club at our meetings, it was difficult to decide who got to swing and for how long (as there are only four swings). That was always a funny challenge. Amidst trying to figure out who got to swing, we would all catch up on each others' lives."

DANIEL FERNANDEZ

HOMETOWN: Valencia, CA

MAJOR: History with an emphasis in social science

FAVORITE PLACE ON CAMPUS:
The Cafeteria

"My favorite place on campus is actually the caf. The food is good, the staff is really friendly and it's a great place to chat with people. One time my friends and I pushed all these tables together and as more and more people kept coming we kept inviting them to join us. I finished eating but stayed for almost an hour just chatting with everyone."

RASHA'A CRAWFORD

HOMETOWN: Camden, NJ

MAJOR: Communication and Business

FAVORITE PLACE ON CAMPUS:
Grace Patio

"My favorite place at Cal Lu is definitely Grace Patio. It has access to a swimming pool, the basketball courts, and a barbeque pit! What more could a student ask for."

JEANNIE SCHMITT

HOMETOWN: Vista, CA

MAJOR:
Liberal Studies

FAVORITE PLACE ON CAMPUS:
Kingsmen Park

"A relaxed atmosphere that has sun, shade, and fresh air — Kingsmen Park is the perfect setting to have a picnic, do homework, or simply relax in the sun. It's also amazing at night, when you can bring a blanket and a buddy and curl up under the beautiful stars. You might just see a shooting star to make a wish upon!"

DANIELLE KIRK

HOMETOWN: Ventura, CA

MAJOR: Exercise Science and
Sports Medicine

FAVORITE PLACE ON CAMPUS:
The Gilbert Sports and Fitness Center

"I spend most of my time at the Gilbert Center. There are so many resources in the building both for recreation and education. I've had a lot of good times there — gone to many basketball and volleyball games, played basketball in the practice gym, and gone to events like Midnight Madness."

MIGUEL LOPEZ

HOMETOWN: Burbank, CA

MAJOR:
Business

FAVORITE PLACE ON CAMPUS:
The Digital Music Lab

"The Digital Music lab is my favorite place on campus because I can go there to make music — my passion in life. I create electronic beats using the synthesized sounds and audio samples on the computer, and I'm always looking to improve the quality of my music as well as be creative with fellow musicians."
