HIKING TRAILS

On September 15, the AVenture Club led a student hike to the Punch Bowls by Ojai, where cliff-jumping into the cool pools was irresistible for some. Just weeks before, biology professor Barbara Collins led hikers into the hills above the Conejo Valley in search of California purple sage, wild cucumber, and elderberry. Cal Lu students regularly find themselves out hiking, whether that entails exploring a nearby oak forest or scaling the bluffs above Leo Carrillo Beach to check out the view of the kelp beds. With the Santa Monica Mountains to the south, Los Padres Forest to the north, and the beaches of the Pacific a short distance west, Cal Lutheran occupies an enviable place in the world, and one which our students take full advantage of, with a walking stick and good pair of hiking boots.
