Dr. Molly George is an assistant professor in the Criminal Justice and Sociology Departments. She received her Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and her B.A. from the University of Denver. Her teaching specialization is undergraduate research, including both qualitative and quantitative methods. Dr. George also teaches courses on white-collar crime and the sociology of sport.
In addition, Dr. George serves as the faculty advisor for the student honor societies in the Criminal Justice Department, Alpha Phi Sigma (APS) and the Sociology Department, Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD).
Dr. George's current research examines immigration enforcement and detention. In past projects, she has focused on the sociology of work and occupations, sport, and gender. Her work has been published in the Journal of Contemporary Ethnography, Sociological Inquiry, Teaching Sociology, and in the edited collection Sport, Power, and Society: Institutions and Practices.
In addition to teaching at California Lutheran University, she has held adjunct teaching positions at UCSB and worked as a writer/editor in academic publishing.
