Harry Starn, Jr., MS, CFA, CFP®, is an executive faculty member in California Lutheran University's School of Management and serves as the Director of the Financial Planning Program and Director of Distance Learning. He has been teaching, creating and refining online courses for CLU's MBA-FP program since 2005.
In May of 2010, the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) presented him with the bronze award for Excellence in Distance Teaching. He serves on the CFP Board's Council on Education (2012-2015) and is a co-writer on the 11th Edition of "Practicing Financial Planning for Professionals."
Harry has over 20 years of experience in the financial-services industry. He formerly operated his own fee-only financial planning practice, Action Financial Planning, LLC. Prior to starting his own practice in 1996, Harry worked as a registered representative with Financial Network Investment Corporation and later served as the Manager of Special Directors’ Services with Lipper Analytical Services, Inc., a consulting department to the mutual fund industry.
Harry earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Master of Science Degree in Finance from the University of Colorado in Boulder. He also holds industry certifications as a Chartered Financial Analyst from the CFA Institute and the CFP® Certification from the CFP Board of Standards.
