Residence Halls

Comfortable and community-oriented, it doesn’t take long before your residence hall feels like home. It will feel a lot like living in an apartment as you’ll share a suite with two bedrooms, a bathroom and a living room. Each residence hall sports a lounge with a mini-kitchen which means if the cafeteria’s closed, you can use your fine culinary skills to whip up a bowl of Top Ramen.

Residence assistants are always available to answer questions, give advice and make sure you and your hallmates are safe and comfortable. In addition, students from the Residence Hall Association help with everything from getting a new pool table for the hall lounge to planning Siblings Weekend.

Amenities

All halls offer laundry rooms, television lounges, game/activity rooms, study lounges, community kitchens and vending areas. Each residence hall has laundry machines which operate using smart cards. The cards can be purchased for a one-time fee of $3; credit can be added to the cards in $5 increments. Laundry costs are $1 for a wash, $.50 for drying. All rooms are equipped with voicemail service and cable television. Each residence hall has a front desk where students can puchase snack items, check out recreation equipment and borrow movies. Also, all rooms are equipped for both wired and wireless access to the University computer network (CLUnet). Students who bring their own computers to school will have the chance to sign up for connection to the University network. Details regarding hook-ups are available by contacting Information Systems Services (Pearson Library: 805-493-3698). If students choose not to bring their own computer, there are several computer labs available for use on campus.

Furniture

Each suite is furnished with an extra long twin-size bed (83.25'' long, 39.5'' wide), a desk (24'' deep, 48'' wide, 36'' tall), a chair, a dresser (30'' wide, 24'' deep, 46.5'' tall), and closet space for each resident. Students also have the option of furnishing their room with their own couch, loveseat, table, etc. Students may add furniture to their room but are not allowed to remove University-supplied furniture.
