Scheduling a Visit to CLU
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is an "interview" or visit required for admission to CLU?
A: A formal "interview" is not required for admission to CLU. An appointment with an Admission/Financial Aid Counselor is an opportunity to exchange information. Both the student and parents are encouraged to ask questions and participate in the appointment. We are here to make your application and financial aid process easy to understand and help to make you aware of deadlines.
Q: When is a good time to visit CLU?
A: The best time to visit CLU is when the students are here and classes are in session. While the Admission staff is helpful...it's the CLU community we would like you to meet! Students, faculty, staff, coaches — these are the people who make CLU unique and may join you one day in the classroom, on the field or in the residence halls. Please take time to view the calendar we have provided - we have indicated the days when current CLU students are either on vacation or unable to house students and the days when the Office of Admission is closed.
Q: When may I stay overnight in a residence hall?
A: If you are a senior in high school or a student at another college considering transferring to CLU, you may stay overnight in our residence halls. Overnights are generally scheduled between Sunday and Thursday. There is a one-night maximum. You will need to bring a sleeping bag, pillow and towel in addition to your clothing and toiletries. Student volunteers to our office, known as Team Hospitality, are very generous hosts and will do their best to make you feel at home. Overnight visits are only available to students who are seniors or currently attending a two- or four-year college. We do have days during the year that overnights are unavailable. Contact the office for more information.
Q: May I eat in the cafeteria?
A: Visitors of the Admission office are our guests in the campus cafeteria. There is a three-meal maximum for each prospective student. Parents/guardians will each receive one meal. You will receive meal passes to use in the cafeteria. Click here to see the menu for this week.
Q: May I visit CLU on a Saturday?
A: There are few opportunities for you to meet faculty, coaches and students on Saturdays. Remember, college students use weekends to catch up on sleep, do homework, participate in club and religious activities, and generally relax. Many prospective students decide that they need to visit on a weekday to see what "campus is really like." However, if Saturday is your only opportunity to visit, an Admission Counselor will be happy to give you a campus tour and information about applying for admission and financial aid. Saturday appointments must be made in advance by either calling or completing the Individual Visit Online Request Form. Saturday appointments are only available October through April.
Q: When are the campus tours given?
A: During the school year current students known as Presidential Hosts provide a valuable service to our office and our visitors by leading campus tours. We encourage you to ask them questions about classes, student life, sports, living on campus and, of course, everyone's favorite: "What's the food like?" Official campus tours are walking tours which last approximately one hour and cover about one mile. If you or a family member requires special assistance to complete the campus tour, please feel free to call our office ahead of time, and we will be happy to make necessary accommodations. All tours depart from the Office of Admission.
