Happy Summer, Class of 1998!
I hope all is well for you & your families! It's great to see your lives unfold through Facebook (click HERE to join our class of '98 Facebook page), but it would be even better to see you in person! I don’t know if anyone else has done the math, but this Homecoming will be our 15 Year Reunion! Wow…time sure flies! We’ll be planning some reunion festivities, so be sure to save the date! If anyone has ideas or would like to assist in planning, please let me know!
CLU continues to grow and improve as the years go by. Attendance is at a record high, the academic programs continue to earn awards and athletics continues to be a dominant force in NCAA Division III Athletics. It is a great time to be a Kingsmen or Regal!
I wanted to let you know about a couple of things as we move thru the summer.
Homecoming & Family Weekend
October 18-20…Mark your Calendar! Whether you attend every year or haven’t been on campus since we graduated, this will be a great time to return! Homecoming is better than ever! It includes fun events such as a: 5K Fun Run, Golf Tournament, Alumni & Family Festival (including beer & wine garden) and more! Plus, we will be planning something extra for our 15 Year Reunion.
People who update their information before July 31st will be entered into a prize drawing to win a 2 night stay at the Four Season’s Westlake Village over Homecoming weekend. Information can be updated using the following link www.callutheran.edu/alumni/plugin/update-info.php (It only takes about 20 seconds to update your info!)
Growing Campus: The Caf is being replaced! A brand new Dining Commons is under construction and will improve the facilities substantially. The number of undergrad students has almost doubled since we were there…but the caf didn’t get any bigger. If you get a chance in the Spring of 2014 to swing by and take a look you will be in awe! You can check out the progress here. www.callutheran.edu/construction/dining-commons.php
The Science Initiative – New 45,000 sq ft Facility CLU’s $30 million science initiative will create a physical symbol of the collaborative, investigative approach in place across all disciplines at the University. The proposed new facility will add 45,000 square feet of space, supporting problem-based learning through more specialized lab and collaborative spaces. It will enable the University to remain competitive in recruiting new students and meeting growing demand among science majors.
The Victory Club The Victory Club was conceived as a way to bring together everyone who supports Cal Lutheran Athletics. Membership in the Victory Club will enhance the student-athlete experience by offering teams increased travel opportunities, improved facilities, special equipment and the development of a contingency fund for special sports program needs. For more information on how you can join and support CLU Athletics: www.clusports.com/victoryclub/
Career Services: Don’t forget…as a CLU Alum you get lifetime access to the Career Services office. They help with everything from Job Searches, GMAT introductions, LinkedIn classes, resume writing and interview skills. As time goes by, things like what makes a “good resume” change. Keep your skills and resume fresh with the help of the Career Services Office. www.callutheran.edu/career_services/services/
Have a great summer and I hope to see you at Homecoming and Family Weekend!
All the best,
