Greetings Class of 2005!
We hope this letter finds you and your families well and ready for summer. It’s been a while since we’ve provided you with an update and we wanted to fill you in on some campus news and opportunities for you to come back and visit Cal Lutheran during the remainder of 2013!
Dr. Erwin Selected as ELCA Bishop
Many of you may have already heard the exciting news that CLU’s very own Dr. Erwin has been elected as the new bishop of the Southwest California Synod of the ELCA. An ordained minister since 2011, Dr. Erwin will serve a six-year term that will begin in September where he will preside over 120 congregations in 5 counties. Feel free to drop him a note/email of congratulations; we are sure he’d love to hear from his former students!
Remember the ‘Now is the Time’ campaign that raised all of the funding for North Campus? Well, CLU is gearing up for their next big initiative which will support the sciences. CLU’s $30 million science initiative will enable the University to remain competitive in recruiting new students and meeting growing demand among science majors with a proposed facility that will add 45,000 square feet of specialized lab and collaborative meeting spaces. We will be sure to provide you updates as fundraising and building get underway!
The Victory Club
Cal Lutheran has launched the Cal Lutheran Victory Club which was conceived as a way to bring together everyone who supports Cal Lutheran Athletics. Membership in the Victory Club will enhance the student-athlete experience by offering teams increased travel opportunities, improved facilities, special equipment and the development of a contingency fund for special sports program needs. To learn more, visit The Victory Club website. You can also ‘Like’ the Cal Lutheran Victory Club on Facebook.
There is plenty more happening around the CLU community and we encourage you to take some time to visit the News & Information page of the website.
