Debbie Schaeffer, soprano, is originally from Minneapolis. She grew up in a family of musicians and has been performing since childhood. She attended the MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis while earning her BS degree in Business at Minnesota State University. She has been a member of Areté Vocal Ensemble since 2009 and the Los Robles Master Chorale since 2011. She has performed such roles as Eva Peron, a fairy god-mother, a wicked step-sister, a mythical Disney muse, a Dickens singer and Mary Poppins. Other performance groups include Burbank Civic Light Opera, Angeles Chorale, Jingle Singers, Oaks Chamber Singers and San Fernando Valley Master Chorale. She has been a staff soloist and section leader at churches in Minneapolis, Tuscaloosa, Burbank and Reseda and has performed in cabarets and other events in the L.A. area. Solo works include Mozart's Mass in C Minor, Monteverdi's Vespers, Handel's Messiah, Faure's Requiem, Vivaldi's O Qui Coeli, Gounod's Messe Solennelle and Allegri's Meserere mie. She has appeared in live productions of Evita, the Disney movies Hercules, Cinderella, Fiddler on the Roof, Mary Poppins, Harry Chapin Stories and Without a Song Musical Stories, as well as other productions at venues including the El Capitan Theatre, Shrine Auditorium, Disney Concert Hall, Thousand Oaks Performing Arts Center, Glendale Centre Theatre, Burbank Starlight Bowl, Sportsmen's Lodge and the Gardenia Room. She has also sung in the studio on contemporary rock albums and commercials, and was the speaking voice on a national radio commercial.
