The Boundaries of Crisis Work

After discussing the history of crisis intervention in the United States, Dr. Steve Portuges will describe a psychodynamic psychotherapeutic intervention strategy that seeks to prevent the regressive conclusion of a crisis and promote its adaptive resolution in a time limited outpatient treatment setting. Several related issues will also be addressed including how therapist and patient can identify and discuss crisis intervention treatment goals and then assess whether they have been accomplished. Dr. Portuges will present case material to illustrate his psychodynamic approach to brief crisis intervention psychotherapy.

Last year, American artist Mia Tavonatti moved to Italy to unveil her most recent project, Svelata, a monumental series of oil paintings on canvas at the ancient Museo Arsenale in Amalfi.
