Event Description
A stimulating community program in which Cal Lutheran faculty review noteworthy books. Each faculty member will offer an engaging review, which will include time for audience discussion and questions. Light refreshments will be provided. In Religious Literacy: What Every American Needs to Know-and Doesn’t, Stephen Prothero offers readers insight on the problematic prevalence of “religious illiteracy” in the United States. He sketches out the historical origins of this deficiency and offers “solutions that address religious education while preserving First Amendment Boundaries.” (Publishers Weekly) Reviewed by Dr. Paul Egertson, Senior Lecturer in Religion.
