Sustainability in Action: Greening Lessons Learned from the Democratic National Convention
Jaime Nack, President of Three Squares, Inc.
The largest event in history ever to be greened, the Democratic Convention spanned over four days and three venues, including the 85,000+ capacity Invesco Field in Denver. As Director of Sustainability and Greening Operations, Nack managed an effort that required 1,008 volunteers and included the most monumental diversion of recycling and compostable materials to date.
The first part of her presentation will address the challenges and benefits of adapting events, such as conventions, conferences, festivals, etc., to include a greening and sustainability initiative. The second part of the presentation will be an interactive sustainability workshop that highlights successful sustainability programs on other college campuses. Small groups will discuss specific initiatives to produce a “wish list” of items for possible implementation at CLU.
