Faculty Recital: Eric Kinsley and Kyle Johnson, organ duo

CLU music faculty members Eric Kinsley (right) and Kyle Johnson perform organ duets and works for two organs.

Johnson is coordinator of Chapel Music, University Organist and music lecturer. He holds a doctor of musical arts degree in organ performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance, where he studied with John Ditto. He also earned music degrees studying under Larry Smith at Indiana University and Pamela Ruiter-Feenstra at Bethany College (Lindsborg, Kansas). He has served on the music faculties of three Midwestern colleges, and presented solo organ recitals in eight states. Johnson’s choral anthem “Lamb of God,” dedicated to the CLU Chapel Choir, is available through Augsburg Fortress.

Kinsley is a senior lecturer in music and teaches piano at CLU. He is also a performing artist and writer who earned his doctorate at the Manhattan School of Music under the mentorship of Kenneth Cooper. He has been a member of the New York Contemporary Music Band, Pacific Classical Winds and the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra and has received grants in early and contemporary music from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York Harpsichord Society and the Sylvia Marlow Foundation. His book on the innovative chamber music of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach was released in January.
