Feed the Bees

Garden event

Feed the Bees

It’s a double-header!  Cal Lutheran Alumni, along with the Center for Equality and Justice and the SEEd (Sustainable Edible Education) project, would like to invite you to a bee-utiful event at the SEEd garden on Saturday, April 12, from 1-2:30 p.m. You and your kids will see a Cal Lutheran bee-keeping demonstration, view bees at work in the garden, and get to plant some flower and vegetable seeds. The first 25 children registered will go home with their very own free Feed the Bees t-shirt and potted plant.

Follow up that garden fun by bringing the family to a free showing of the documentary film More than Honey on Tuesday, April 22, at 7 p.m. at Lundring Events Center. In this film Oscar-nominated director Markus Imhoof tackles the urgent question of why bees are facing extinction, investigating this global phenomenon from California to Switzerland, China and Australia. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with local bee experts from CSUCI and HoneyLove Urban Beekeepers. Bee t-shirts will also be sold at this event for $25.

Both events are open to the general public as well as faculty, staff, alumni and their families. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, please call Alumni Relations at 805-493-3170.
