What advice would you give to incoming CLU students? Get involved—it’s a great way to beat the mid-semester blues and get that motivation going. Invest in your education—talk to your faculty advisor, evaluator, career counselor, visit us, and make sure you’re on the right track towards finishing up your CORE 21 and major requirements. Try an internship, too!  Don’t pass up on any opportunities you have here at CLU!

Who has had the greatest influence on your life? I like to gain information from everyone I meet. That way, I can always gain another perspective. However, I’ve learned a great deal from my parents and my husband!

What has your time at CLU taught you?  I’ve learned as I get to know more staff, faculty, and students that we all matter to the university. We are all valued. Get to know the people that work here, and you’ll understand what I mean.

What are you passionate about? I am passionate about how people learn. I want to study the human mind. I’m also very passionate about my family, friends, and taking the time to truly enjoy life! Fun is a basic human need, and laughter is definitely the best medicine!!

What was the greatest lesson you learned in college?  I didn’t realize it until I graduated, but I learned that it is essential to ask for help in life. When you go at it alone, there’s more opportunity for error, heartache, and stress!

What do you love about CLU? I love the campus culture. I love the culture of people going out of their way to say, “Hi.” I love the culture of community service. I love the commitment to the exploration of world cultures.

What are your hopes and dreams? I hope to help people discover how they learn. I hope to teach courses in adult learning theory and human development, get a PhD, and continue counseling. I know I’ll have a child or two someday.

What is your favorite place on campus? Why? I really like the “tech booth” up the stairs in the Little Theater. It is so peaceful up there, and I have fond memories of running the lighting and sound there once for a play. You get a whole different perspective of a show when you’re watching it from above.

What’s your favorite quote?  “Everything can be taken from a man (or woman) but ...the last of the human freedoms--to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." ~ Viktor Frankl
