The universities and colleges in Ventura County are united by a mission to contribute to the public good by educating their students to become engaged citizens. Through integrating service-learning courses and community-based research across disciplines, the universities and colleges who have joined the CEJ are committed to mobilizing their resources to create opportunities for students and faculty to engage in scholarly projects that support community goals.
Service Learning
Academic inquiry can increase the quality of students' work in and for the community. We value the building of curricula and pedagogies that integrate rigorous study with intellectual work that takes place within communities, thereby enhancing students' engagement with fundamental questions of equality and justice.
