If the SHU Fits

Voices from Solitary Confinement

If the SHU Fits

In this live performance, a cast of eight actors, activists and former prisoners are the voices of people experiencing the torture of long-term solitary confinement. Presented as part of actions launched by the Prisoner Hunger Strike Solidarity Coalition. Reader’s Theatre Performance with A/V enhancement.

"If the SHU Fits--Voices from Solitary Confinement" was originally created through a grant from the National Religious Campaign Against Torture (NRCAT) to the Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace (ICUJP).

Following the performance, a moderated discussion will include information about the recent agreement with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to limit indeterminate long-term solitary confinement. “If the SHU Fits” is part of a call to STOP THE TORTURE, with events in the greater Los Angeles area on the 23rd of each month, signifying the number of hours each day that prisoners are locked in their solitary cell.

Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is located at 3327 Old Conejo Road, Newbury Park 91320 (enter at Ruth Ave).
