We provide high quality education in three areas of the visual arts: studio arts, design and commercial art, and historical and conceptual studies of art. The curriculum integrates skill-building, the nourishment of personal creativity, and an intellectual appreciation of the context and meaning of the creative process.
Cross-disciplinary studies and career training are important components of the curriculum. With a faculty that is distinguished for its teaching, scholarship and creative work, the department is becoming one of the leading sites of art education in Southern California.
Art graduates enjoy careers in the visual arts, art history education, design and advertising. Careers for art students include graphic design, advertising, photography, computer graphics, book design, and work in the theater, motion picture and television industries.
