Graduate School of Education

Message from the Dean

Dear School of Education alumni, students and friends:

CLU School of Education has proudly served in its mission to develop outstanding, reflective and principled educators. During the silver anniversary of the formation of our school, which will be celebrated throughout the 2011-2012 year, I am proud to announce the renaming of the School of Education to the Graduate School of Education to better reflect our commitment to graduate education.

The new name highlights our leadership in educational research, commitment to professional development, and our investment in providing excellent teachers, administrators and counselors in elementary, middle, high school and college settings. Accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, the Graduate School of Education has helped prepare nearly 8,000 teachers, counselors, administrators, principals and superintendents in K-12 and higher education. Graduates of our five master's degree programs, two doctoral degree programs and credential programs are working in their communities to meet the challenges of education in many diverse settings.

As the Graduate School of Education launches into its silver anniversary, we are enthusiastic about the opportunity to share the progress, accomplishments and impact that the school has made in the region and beyond through its faculty, students and graduates. Throughout the 2011-2012 academic year, we will host a wide variety of events to enliven our celebration and bring our message to the community. Please visit our Silver Anniversary website to obtain updated information on our celebratory events.

Please join me in celebrating this new chapter in the history of our distinguished school!

Sincerely,

George J. Petersen
