Profile
Dr. Cosenza joined the faculty of CLU in August 2006 as an instructor in the Department of Teacher Education. He lives in Moorpark with his wife of more than 28 years and they have two children. Prior to joining CLU, he taught for the Moorpark Unified School District.
Dr. Cosenza teaches courses in teaching methods and conducts CalTPA seminars for the teacher credentialing program. In his role as chair, Dr. Cosenza provides oversight and leaderhsip for all general education credentials including, Multiple Subjects, Single Subjects, Reading Added Authorization, Technology Added Authorization, and Clear Credential.
Together with faculty coordinators, he provides oversight of the Masters Degree in Teacher Leadership and the Professional Development School (PDS) partnerships with Flory Academy of Sciences and Technology in Moorpark, Campus Canyon in Moorpark, Los Cerritos Middle School in Thousand Oaks and Colina Middle School in Thousand Oaks. Dr. C also coordinates the California Teaching Performance Assessment (CalTPA) program which are assessments required of each candidate before they are recommended for a teaching credential.
In addition to his departmental responsibilities, Dr. Cosenza serves on the University's Assessment Committee and Chairs the Committee for clinical fieldowork. Outside the University he is a member of the CalTPA Steering Committee for the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing, serves as Chair of the Southern California Professional Development School Consortium, and serves on the Higher Education Advisory Board for the Ventura County Office of Education.
