Reading Certificate (Added Authorization) Program
Program Overview
Success in reading is one of the most crucial goals of students and their teachers. The Reading Certificate Program is designed to assist the teacher in developing additional expertise in the teaching of reading. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible for the Reading Certificate offered by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. This program may be taken alone or as a specialization within a master's degree program.
Program Highlights
This program prepares teachers to assess reading skills and provide instruction in response to these assessments. Reading certificate holders are also authorized to develop, implement, and adapt curriculum, and assist colleagues at the grade levels authorized by their prerequisite teaching credential.
Requirements
This program is being revised in accordance with new guidelines of the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing. The new program will be offered in Fall 2013. Admission Requirements
- Check List
- Completed Application Form
- $50.00 Application Fee (pleae make checks payable to CLU)
- Official transcripts verifying bachelor's degree, completion of a teaching credential program and any graduate work
- Personal Statement
- Recommendation Form
- Copy of a valid Preliminary Teaching Credential
Other Requirements
- Minimum 3.0 upper division GPA
