About
Professor Wiers, a recent addition to the School of Management adjunct faculty at CLU, is a multifaceted lecturer who has been teaching in the Mathematics Department at CSU Channel Islands since 2003. His courses at CSU include: (1) Applied Statistics for Business & Economics, (2) Operations Research, (3) Research Design & Data Analysis, (4) Actuarial Mathematics, and (5) Data Analytics.
Professor Wiers’ other academic interests include moral and political philosophy, particularly 20th century analytic moral philosophy (Moore, Pritchard, Ross, Russell, Ayer, Hare, Mackie), and Anglo-American and French political philosophy (Hume, Smith, Adams, Madison, Calhoun, Rousseau, Babeuf, Marx, Lenin).
Prior to becoming a full-time lecturer he worked in industry at among other firms Ciba-Geigy (Novartis) in Greensboro, NC as an agricultural statistician, and Amgen in Thousand Oaks, CA as a pharmaceutical statistician. His hobbies include world-wide bird watching, Santa Monica Mountains plant life, piano, basketball, and fitness.
