Sevet Johnson, PsyD
Adjunct Faculty Member
Greetings! I am Dr. Johnson and I currently work as a Clinical Administrator for a mental health program and a Licensed Clinical Psychologist for the Ventura County Behavioral Health Department. I have enjoyed working at various sites in the field including all school levels providing school-based counseling, juvenile halls, and non-profit community agencies serving those with a wide range of mental health disorders.
In these settings I have provided group, individual, couples and family counseling in the various settings I have worked in. I have found that my niche is working with resistant and oppositional adolescents-while this work is difficult I must admit that I find it particularly rewarding when a breakthrough does occur. I specialize in trauma focused play therapy and enjoy my work with children aged 4-10 years old that have experienced severe trauma in their early life. I received my Psy.D in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, I hold two MA's in Clinical Psychology, one from the California School of Professional Psychology and the other with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University in addition to a BA in English from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
I have had the honor to facilitate and lead several class discussions on a graduate studies level. It is my hope to be a lifetime learner and learn from my students even as I facilitate and bring forth knowledge in this forum. I live in sunny Southern California and enjoy reading, swimming, traveling with my husband and exercising. Thanks for stopping by my profile page!
