This purchase was coordinated by sophomore senator Paige Piper and senior senator Shannon Cordes. These earthquake kits are different from first aid kits housed around campus in that they contain emergency food and water rations, communication devices, disinfectant wipes, survival blankets, and more. These kits have a home with Campus Public Safety and will be distributed by their department in the event of a major disaster. The deadline to submit your proposal is December 14th at 5:00pm. A committee will vote for the best proposals based on the criteria. The winners will be announced and awarded during Finals Week via email.</p>]]></description><content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Dear Clubs and Organizations of California Lutheran University,<br /><br />The ASCLU Senate is holding a contest for all clubs and organizations to compete for a grant that will support a brand new event that a club wishes to host. &nbsp;The purpose of this contest is for clubs to submit a creative proposal for a new event that they believe will be valuable for the entire student body and that will showcase their club's purpose. &nbsp;Proposals will be judged by a committee of ASCLUG representatives. &nbsp;The committee will vote for a 1st place winner to receive a $500 grant and 2nd place winner to receive a $300 grant for their event. Six student performers and one guest will be sharing their music on Nov. 30, 2012 in Overton Hall from 10PM-12AM.</p>

Our donations will go to ELCA-Hurricane Sandy and 100% of the money will be sent to assist people recovering from the storm. Any donations will be accepted.</p>

<p>Monte Carlo Night: Casino Royale will feature over 19 casino tables and students will have the chance to win one of 17 prizes. If lady luck isn&rsquo;t on your side, there will be plenty of free goodies and festivity around to enjoy. Wear your best secret agent and black tie affair attire. Food and drinks will be served.</p>
<p>Over 300 students filled the Los Robles Greens banquet room last year and this year Programs Board hopes to surpass that number at the Sunset Hills Country Club. The goal of Programs Board is to create fun and exciting events for students and Monte Carlo Night will not disappoint</p>

<p>The first step in becoming a running candidate is picking up a copy of the ASCLUG Fall 2011-2012 Election Packet either in the Student Union Building, or by clicking the link below. This document consists of all election rules and regulations and must be read by all candidates.</p>

<p>Once you have a copy of the packet you must read it in its entirety and then sign the final page and turn it into the Student Union Bulding front desk worker before 5pm on September 6th. You also are encouraged to submit a 75 word statement of candidacy as outlined in the election packet.&nbsp;</p>
<p>You then must attend the informational candidate meeting on Septemebr 6th at 5pm in the Student Union Building.&nbsp; Here your photo will be taken, you will have a chance to ask any questions of the elections committee, and then campaigning can officially begin!</p>
