Damron, Edwards Selected to Lindy's Preseason Team

The college football season is still a couple months away but two Cal Lutheran football players have been selected to the 2009 Lindy's Preseason All-Division III Team. Senior Victor Edwards was named to the first team while sophomore Jackson Damron landed on the second team.

Scholar-Athlete Society Recognizes 99 Students

A record-setting group of 99 student-athetes from 19 teams at California Lutheran University were recognized by the school's Scholar Athlete Society at a year-end banquet. All the students maintained a 3.4 GPA or higher for the academic year while particpating as a NCAA Division III student-athlete.

Baseball's Martin Leads Nation, Breaks CLU Record in Triples

Cal Lutheran junior Matt Martin was one of only two players in Division III baseball to eclipse 10 triples, doing so in 35 games during the 2009 season notching the triples per game title outright. The mark also breaks the school's 29-year old single season record and 15-year old career record.

Cal Lutheran women's water polo standouts Meredith Butte, Joy Cyprian, Bobby Sanders and Ashley Bentz were chosen as members of the 2009 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-American Teams, released on Thursday. Butte and CLU Head Coach Craig Rond were named as ACWPC Division III Player and Coach of the Year, respectively.

California Lutheran University's David Iden has been selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 35^th round of Major League Baseball's 2009 First-Year Player Draft, announced on Thursday. The senior infielder was the 1,057^th pick overall and the latest Kingsmen selected since former teammate Lee Ellis in 2007.

CLU's Damron Earns CDS Preseason All-American Honors

Second year kicker Jackson Damron was selected to the 2009 Consensus Draft Services Division III Preseason All-American Second Team. After earning All-Conference first team last season he is the lone SCIAC player to earn a spot on the CDS teams.

Ott Garners All-America Team Honors

Junior Jordan Ott was named to the 2009 D3Baseball.com All-America Team, released earlier today. The designated hitter earned an "Honorable Mention" spot after hitting .361 and led the team with 50 RBI.
