Grants

A grant is gift aid resource that does not need to be repaid. Eligibility for grants is usually based on need as demonstrated by the FAFSA; however, some grant eligibility also considers academics and/or degree program.

Type of Award Amount Awarded on the basis of:
Cal Grant A $9,708 Financial need as determined by filing the FAFSA (for California residents only) Must file FAFSA & GPA Verification worksheet (available from your high school guidance office or from CLU) by March 2.
CLU Grant from $100 Financial need as determined by filing the FAFSA
Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) $750 first year
$1,300 second year
Financial need as determined by filing the FAFSA. Must be a Pell Grant recipient and be a U.S. Citizen. Complete rigorous secondary school program. Second year renewal requires 3.0 minimum college GPA
Federal Pell Grant up to $4,731 Financial need as determined by filing the FAFSA
Federal Science and Math Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant $4,000 Financial need as determined by filing the FAFSA. Must be a Pell Grant recipient and be a U.S. Citizen. Available to third and fourth academic year students in eligible major. Cumulative GPA minimum of 3.0 in student's eligible major.
Federal Supplemental Grant (SEOG) up to $1,500 Financial need as determined by filing the FAFSA. Awarded to students with exceptional need as determined by Pell Grant eligibility.
