Description

"Room at the Table" is the theme for this year’s University Chapel. Since Cal Lutheran has provided for all its alumni a generous place in the academic and religious tables, we gather together to celebrate the grace and good pleasure of God. We give thanks for Rev. Mark Marius, class of 92, and Alumni Board member, who will provide the homily.

Art Exhibit

Description

Biomythography: Secret Poetry & Hidden Angers

Featuring video, performance, installation, sculpture, photography, and mixed media, this exhibition investigates history, biography, and mythology in the context of contemporary identities. Works juxtapose pop culture and life experiences with ritual and anthropology to bring focus on current events.

Founders Day Convocation

10:30am – 11:30am at Samuelson Chapel

Description

Join us for the 56th Founders Day Convocation, a festive event where the university community gives thanks for its heritage and accents its primary mission of educating leaders for a global society. This year’s keynote speaker is Rev. Shelley Wickstrom ’81, elected Bishop of the Alaska Synod.

During the Convocation, we will recognize the following award recipients:

Alumni & Friends Golf Classic

12:30pm – 8:00pm at Tierra Rejada Golf Club

This event requires registration.

Description

One of Cal Lutheran's longest standing Homecoming traditions, the Golf Classic includes greens fees, golf cart, box lunch, refreshments on the course, BBQ dinner, and a golfer gift. It's a great way to kick off the weekend - get your foursome together!

Student Life Presents a Homecoming Family Reunion

5:00pm – 8:00pm at Kingsmen Park

Description

Join students, alumni, family and friends on Friday night for a Cal Lutheran family reunion. There will be a FREE taco bar, games, music and more! Open to all students, families, friends, alumni, faculty and staff. 

University Symphony Founders Day Concert

7:30pm – 9:00pm at Samuelson Chapel

Description

The University Symphony will perform selections from Jonathan Bruce Brown’s Symphony for String Orchestra and Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 95. You can enjoy these pieces in their entirety at the March 2016 concert. Also included on the program will be a selection by the Honors Ensemble. Veteran faculty member, Daniel Geeting will conduct. Donations kindly accepted.

Description

Brad Kunkle Artist in Residency

The Kwan Fong Gallery of Art and Culture holds continuous exhibitions by nationally recognized artists. This year's resident artist is Brad Kunkle - famous for his romantic paintings using mixed media, silver and gold leaf. 

While Kunkle is staying at Cal Lutheran during October, he will work on creating a new piece of art using the Kwan Fong Gallery as his studio.

Loop da Lu 5k Family Run/Walk

What better way to start the day than with an energizing run/walk around campus? Round up your college friends, roommates, and family to do the 5k loop together. Check-in starts at 7:00 am. Arrive early to find parking and warm up.

Perfect for the young and young-at-heart, our Alumni & Family Festival offers fun for all ages. Choose from bounce houses, good eats, spirits, and live music – all included for $10 per adult and $5 for undergraduate students. Kids 12 and under are free.

4:00pm at Enormous Luther, Falde Plaza

Description

Show your Cal Lutheran spirit and meet up with your graduating class! Gather at the Alumni & Family Festival to reconnect with your classmates.
