Basic Function
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Student Life, the Coordinator for Transitional and Leadership Development Programs is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of innovative programs for a comprehensive student life campus experience.
Representative Duties
Transitional Programming
Graduate and Adult Students
• Advise the Graduate and Adult Student Council. E
• Develop and coordinate Graduate and Adult Student programming. E
• Develop and coordinate Graduate and Adult Student signature events. E
• Collaborate with the Graduate Council and Adult Education Program Staff. E
• Develop and maintain graduate and adult student resources and outreach media. E
Orientation
• Assist with Peer Advisor recruitment and selection. E
• Coordinate logistics and registration for New Student Orientation. E
• Assist with Family Orientation. E
• Coordinate recruitment, selection, and supervision of Orientation Staff. E
• Maintain the Orientation Website. E
• Responsible for Summer Launch Orientation. E
• Assist with NODA intern selection, TLD intern selection. E
Leadership
• Oversee student clubs and organizations. E
• Develop and coordinate First Year programming. E
• Develop and coordinate Senior Year Programming and Website. E
• Aid in the development and assessment of a comprehensive student leadership model. E
General Job Duties
• Supervise NODA Intern, Student Clubs and Organizations Accountant, and programming intern. E
• Collaborate across divisional lines and with student organizations on providing recreational, social, educational and professional activities for undergraduate, graduate and adult students. E
• Contribute to overall goals of program development and service to undergraduate, graduate, and adult students as a member of the Student Life staff and as an active participant in staff meetings and the university community as a whole. E
• Co-develop and manage the programming and student activities retention budgets; provide direct oversight of programming expenses. E
• Communicate and work with internal and external constituents including, but not limited to, vendors, artists, lecturers, and performers to execute contracts and agreements. E
• Remain abreast of national student involvement/engagement trends and issues. E
• Ensure student-run activities are properly orchestrated according to predetermined guidelines set forth by the approving parties and campus advisors. E
• Publish the Student Organization Handbook and ensure compliance with guidelines and policies. E
• Maintain communication with direct supervisor for any and all occurrences of student-run events. E
• Increase avenues of communication with undergraduate, graduate and adult students by maintaining visibility, availability, and approachability. E
• Provide leadership on projects as assigned. E
• Assist undergraduate, graduate and adult students and staff with academic, personal, and social issues. E
• Make appropriate referral to various campus offices and personnel as well as off-campus support services. E
• Support division wide projects and programs, such as, but not limited to, Homecoming Week, New Student Orientation, Family Weekend, and Admitted Student Day. E
• Serve on campus wide and Student Affairs related committees as needed. E
• Serve as department liaison with other areas of the University. E
• Assist in general problem solving and participate in campus crisis response, as appropriate. E
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education or related field. Consideration will be given to candidates completing master’s degree by August 2013. Two to three years experience working within master’s degree program with graduate student programs and services, coordinating orientation and leadership programs preferred.

LICENCES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Valid California Drivers License.
• Some weekends & evenings required.
