Support Staff Position (non-exempt)
Position TitleHousekeeper I - 30 hours per week

Salary ($US) and BenefitsSalary Range: $11.88 - $14.50
Basic FunctionUnder the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, this position will be a housekeeper among the custodial staff that maintains 750,000 square feet of office space, classrooms, labs, conference room, residential housing, cafeterias, and athletic venues. Demonstrate a high level of team work, commitment and support to the Facility Department in providing an efficient and professional customer-oriented service in the development of the physical and spatial campus environment.
Representative DutiesClean, sweep, mop floors, vacuum, steam clean and spot clean carpets in all interior spaces.
Clean all interior residence hall surfaces for vacated students and summer camp housing.
Replace shower curtains and write up tickets to replace/repair lighting, blinds and other misc. items within residential housing units.
Remove of trash and recycling from all offices, classrooms, and common area. Remove/facilitate the removal of miscellaneous trash from student housing during occupant changes.
Make adjustments in work schedule for summer or special programs on campus.
Change linen, make beds and speed clean residence halls for event programs and summer camps.
Knowledge OfCustodial cleaning operations for floor care, bathrooms, lounges, hallways, offices, cafeterias, athletic spaces and conference rooms.
Proper methods to clean mirrors, windows and walls.
Methods and equipment used to buff floors.
Methods used to maintain different types of floor surfaces such as tile, wood, cement, and carpet.
Cleaning products for various types of surface materials.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Ability ToWork independently with little direction.
Maintain strict confidentiality.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Follow regulations, policies and procedures.
Work various 8 hour shifts including Saturdays, Sundays and overtime.
Education and ExperienceCustodial cleaning operation experience.
Must have Basic English skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and math skills related to the performance of this job.
Campus setting to clean include residential spaces, offices, classrooms, labs, conference rooms, meeting rooms, athletic facilities, cafeterias, and lecture halls.
Training programs will be provided.
Ability to lift up to 25 lb. and move up to 50 lb
Ability to walk up and down stairs and carry paper products and supplies.
Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone.
Seeing to read a variety of materials.
