In his first Commencement as president, Chris Kimball helped confer degrees on nearly 1,000 students in Mt. Clef Stadium on May 17.
During the morning undergraduate ceremony, U.S. Rep. Lois Capps expressed confidence that the students who received bachelor’s degrees can change the world for the better. Moorpark College President Eva Conrad gave the address at the afternoon ceremony honoring the students receiving master’s and doctoral degrees.

William Kane, chair of the Board of Regents, received an Honorary Doctor of Laws for his service to CLU.
Among the inspiring student speakers was Don Conley. He enrolled in the Adult Degree Evening Program after receiving a lifesaving heart transplant from 17-year-old Ryan Bohacek, who was killed in a car accident.

“I decided that since I never finished college and Ryan never had the opportunity to go that the two of us would get a degree together,” said Conley, 47. “Today I celebrate the fulfillment of that promise.”
