Program Overview
Whether they're heading to law or graduate school, or into careers in commerce, industry, international business or non-profit organizations, economics majors bring a comprehensive understanding of economic principles and a realistic grasp of the world economy to the table.
It's a demanding major-and it's a popular field of study for students targeting professions in business, finance, economics, education, and the law. CLU's Bachelor of Arts degree in economics helps prepare students for a world of opportunity, by combining a "mini-core" of business courses with the carefully focused study of economics in a liberal arts environment.
Whichever path they're considering, economics students know that they will be well prepared for a wide variety of careers across the full range of industries, government agencies, international businesses, and non-profit organizations that make up the economic landscape.
Economics majors also benefit from small classes and the School of Management' determination to build close working relationships among students and faculty. They know they'll complete their four-year course of study on time; they're not competing, as are so many students at the nation's larger universities, for scarce seats in overcrowded classrooms.
And they know that, when it's time to complete employment or graduate school applications, they'll receive letters of recommendation from faculty who know them well and can comment accurately on their skills and potential.

Starting in the Fall of 2011 CLU will offer an optional 4+1 plan for all incoming freshman. The 4+1 plan will allow economics students to complete their Bachelor of Arts degree in economics in four year and a Master's of Science in economics in one year. This exciting new program will greatly enhance the student's educational experience and career opportunities.
