There are numerous opportunities to get involved at CLU. Whether you're interested in classes, music, theater, cultural events, community outreach, or volunteering with students, we have something that is just right for you. CLU thrives because of the support and participation of people just like you who have helped make us a center of the region's cultural and academic life since our founding in 1959.
Business owners, CLU alumni, faculty, staff and community members volunteer their services for Cal Lutheran's Community Leaders Association. Proceeds from the Annual Auction, Golf Tournament and other CLA events provide scholarships and faculty grants. Volunteers are needed to network with and recruit new members, fundraise, generate ideas, organize events, locate resources and host reception tables. Award-winning National Public Radio station, KCLU is the area's top provider of long-form national and regional news, cultural programs and jazz. Showcasing Scandinavian arts and crafts, food, history, music and culture, and an all new international fair, each spring ScanFest offers opportunities to set up displays and staff booths. High school volunteers gain credit for state service requirement; repeat volunteers meet old friends; first-time volunteers make connections to the community. Free admission for volunteers. The Shakespeare festival draws audiences to the outdoor stage at Kingsmen Park to watch performances given by professional actors and apprentices from across the country. Cal Lutheran offers students opportunities for worship and prayer during day and evening hours. Settings are informal or traditional. Community participation is encouraged. Gifts of time and talent are welcome. Volunteers are needed to prepare for trips to Mexico for Habitat for Humanity International projects.
