Conejo Valley couple tell of service during World War II
A friend told Elaine Helgestad about a dinner sponsored by a Lutheran student organization at USC. Elaine agreed to go. "We didn't have much money at the time and the dinner was only 50 cents, so I figured I might as well go," recalled Elaine. She and her friend were Lutherans.

Americans will spend billions of dollars buying family and friends the latest electronic gadgetry, must-have toy, trendy fashion, collectible keepsake, home furnishing or other special item in an effort to say "happy holidays."
