(THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – April 2, 2015) Before leaving for a concert tour of Germany, the California Lutheran University Choir and Women’s Chorale will give a farewell performance on campus at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18.

The music ensembles will present the “Auf Wiedersehen Chorkonzert” in Samuelson Chapel in final preparation for their May tour to the land of Johann Sebastian Bach and Martin Luther.

The program will include works by Bach, German composer Felix Mendelssohn and American composer Morten Lauridsen in addition to American hymns and spirituals.

Wyant Morton, director of choral and vocal activities, will conduct.

From May 20 through 26, the 60-voice Cal Lutheran choirs will perform seven concerts at churches in Munich, Dresden, Leipzig and Wittenberg, present a recital at the Cathedral of Berlin, and sing during a Pentecost Monday service at a church in Bad Schmiedeberg.

This will be the choir’s first concert tour of Germany. It has previously performed in Italy, Sweden, Norway and England and throughout the United States.

The Choir is the premiere choral ensemble at Cal Lutheran. While dedicated to performing works that represent the university’s Lutheran heritage, it also embraces innovative new music and pieces expressing a multicultural perspective.

The Women’s Chorale is comprised primarily of freshmen and sophomores. The ensemble draws its repertoire from the wealth of choral music for female voices from a range of historical periods from classical to modern.

Donations will be accepted.

Samuelson Chapel is located at 165 Chapel Lane on the Thousand Oaks campus. Additional parking is available at the corner of Olsen Road and Mountclef Boulevard.
