All-American Ending for Kingsmen

CLU seniors earn national recognition

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – For one final time as collegiate athletes, Carter Baldwin, Dejan Novakovic and Danny Mock each garnered recognition for his accomplishments in the pool as part of the Cal Lutheran men’s water polo program. Announced today, the trio was named to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Second Team All-America following successful 2012 campaigns.

Baldwin’s storied four-year career concluded with the first All-America nod of his career after leading CLU with 58 steals. He drew 48 ejections, scored 34 goals, dished out 28 assists and recorded 10 field blocks. Baldwin leaves with his name in the CLU record books numerous times, including for steals, now holding the third and fourth best single-season performances with 58 and 53 in 2012 and 2011, respectively. He is tied for fourth in drawn ejections in a single-season with 46 and moves into sixth with his 28 assists in a single-season. Baldwin finishes his career ranked second in career steals (184), fourth in assists (75), fourth in drawn ejections (101), and ninth in goals (88). He was a two-time All-SCIAC recipient, garnering First Team in 2012 and Second Team in 2011, for the Kingsmen.

Mock earned his second All-America recognition after being named an Honorable Mention in 2011. With his school record 266 saves, a single-season record, he concludes his four year career with 520 to rank third. He started all 29 games for the Kingsmen this fall. In addition to his blocks he was responsible for 30 steals and eight assists as the primary goalkeeper. In 2011 he recorded 189 saves, placing him fifth in the single-season record books. Mock was a Second Team All-SCIAC recipient in 2011 and was named Honorable Mention in 2012.

Novakovic earned his first All-America accolade after leading the Kingsmen with 75 goals and 15 field blocks. He added 49 steals, 22 assists and 13 drawn ejections. His 75 goals this fall leaves ties him for third in a single-season while he is also tied for fifth in a single-season with 49 steals. Novakovic will graduate with 108 career goals, in just two seasons, to rank fourth. In the fall he was named to the Second Team All-SCIAC.

Cal Lutheran (15-14, 6-5 SCIAC) finished third in the SCIAC standings.
