Biography

Known affectionately on campus as "the Tons," Dr. Tonsing served as an officer in the United States Navy and as a Lutheran pastor before returning to graduate school to study early Christian literature and art. He lectures widely on subjects such as the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Synoptic Gospels, early Christian art and Martin Luther and conducts research and Interim Study Tours. Dr. Tonsing has edited several books and published a number of articles. He is a member of several professional organizations and enjoys photography and playing the organ and harpsichord.
