Biography

Marja Mogk received her B.A. High Honors in English from the University of Michigan and her Ph.D. in English from U.C. Berkeley with an interdisciplinary dissertation in disability studies.


Her articles and reviews have appeared in M/MLA (journal of the Midwest Modern Language Association) and JVIB (the Journal of Visual Impairment & Blindness). She is the editor of Different Bodies: Essays on Disability in Film and Television (forthcoming in 2013 from McFarland) and the co-author of of Macular Degeneration: The Complete Guide to Saving and Maximizing Your Sight (Ballantine 2003).


She teaches film, Shakespeare, drama, and playwriting. She is also interested in crime fiction, historical fiction,and commercial fiction writing.

  • "Living with Macular Degeneration"

    The presentation can be designed to fit the audience. It focuses on the various aspects of understanding and living with age-related macular degeneration, including current treatments, ongoing research, visual rehabilitation, communicating to family and friends and emotiomal coping skills.
